Affirming the Black Child

Note: This is a list in progress.

I am kind and I deserve kindness in return.

I am capable of anything I put my mind to.

No one is allowed to steal my joy.

I take responsibility of my mistakes without shame.

I am beautiful inside and out.

I am not a quitter, I will always keep trying.

I deserve love and respect.

My feeling are valid and do not mean I am weak.

I am strong, I am powerful.

I have a right to the universe.

“Impossible” does not exist; I ‘M Possible

I am here for a supreme purpose.

I am responsible for my own happiness.

There is no one else in this world like me.

I will stand confidently in the truth.

I love myself unconditionally.

My body is a temple.

My hair is a crown and I wear it proudly.

My people are not the enemy.

I have a right to feel how I want to feel.

I stand on the shoulders of royalty.

I will change the world.

I matter.

My brown skin does not make me less than.

I learn and grow from my mistakes.

My blackness does not limit my potential.

I will lead the way for those who come after me.

I will have everything I need to become the person I want to be.

My parents are proud of me and I am proud of myself.
